Legend Price Drastically Reduced

I’ve been getting the ads for the Legend as well. Feeling like biting on one. I really enjoy my Simplex and wonder from someone who has used both, will I be getting noticeably better performance and results with a Legend?

Just put aside the simultaneous multi frequency options for the moment since not everyone hunts in moderate to high iron mineralization or saltwater beaches where the benefits of the Legend’s SMF tech is obvious and very real.

The Legend can run at 4, 10, 15, 20 and 40 kHz along with all of the Multi options.

The Legend has the option of using 1, 2, 4, 6, 60 or Pitch tones and you can fully adjust volume levels, pitches, and tone breaks for the 1, 2, 4 and 6 tone options.

The Legend has 16 available custom program slots for storing your custom programs

The Legend has 4 preset discrimination patterns and it also has full 60 digit notching with no restrictions on notch size or number of notches.

The Legend is even more solid and well built than the Simplex with a stock carbon fiber lower shaft that does not bend or wobble.

I liked the Simplex very much. However, I am one of those people that hunts most often in moderate to high iron mineralization. Those ground conditions made the Simplex target ID system using the 11” coil, very inaccurate and jumpy if a coin sized target was deeper than 4” on a good day and overall depth was 7” on coin sized objects.

In my area, the Legend using its 11” coil and any of the Multi options will accurately identify 8 to 10” deep coin sized objects of any conductivity and it will hit 10+“ coin sized targets. For me, all of those feature additions and performance improvements made a big difference compared to the Simplex.

Kind of where I'm at.

The wife & I are on a fixed income and neither can work. I had to sell all my top of the line detectors and buy the best my money could get me at the time, the Simplex+. I'd love to have a Legend because I have no doubt it is a better detector for most uses, but I mainly only do tot lots now due to my physical limitations. The Simplex+ is amazing on gold and tot lot hunting I just don't know if the Legend would do me all that much better.

The Legend is a far more versatile detector than the Simplex, and you will find more treasure with the Legend, but only if you're willing to learn about:

1) How frequencies relate to conductivity.

2) Frequency weighting.

3) EMI and SMF.

4) When to use a single frequency and what frequency to use.

5) The use of manual iron bias.

6) The use of manual recovery speeds.

For tot lot hunting and the associated "Dig all" or "Dig all except ferrous targets", then about the only advantage I can see over the Simplex, is the ability to choose a high weighted MF or 40 khz for better sensitivity to small gold.

As long as the manual explains things enough for me to figure out, I’d be willing to learn. Many of the areas I hunt now seem to have high trash and iron content so if I can learn other techniques to counter some of that noise with another detector at a decent price, I’d be willing to do so. As long as it’s not too complex to use. I don’t want to add frustration to my experience. I think that’s one of the things I like most about the Simplex so far

Given from what I've read from you, you would be fine in learning about those things I posted. The Legend's audio however, is quite extensive and customizable. You'll get it with practice though, and might even find that you don't need all of the audio options.

I suspect you're using the SP24 9.5x5 coil on the Simplex? That's an amazing coil for trashy sites, but the Legend doesn't have that coil yet. For trashy sites, the Legend currently has the 6" round coil available. Don't let the that small coil size fool ya though, because that coil (like the 6" coil on the Nox), goes surprisingly deep.

For those that are considering taking Nokta up on this Legend offer, then consider coil size as well.

IMO, the stock 11" round coil is too large for trashy sites. There's way too much masking going on with that coil in trashy sites. I only use the 6" DD round coil in trashy sites, but I would much prefer using a DD Elliptical 9.5x5 coil. Unfortunately, that coil hasn't been released yet for the Legend.

If you want the 9.5x5 coil, then you might want to save money by ordering the version without the 6" coil, then buy the 9.5x5 coil when it's released. Thing is, doing it this way, then you're stuck with using the 11" round coil in trashy sights (ugh), until the 9.5x5 coil gets released.

Kelly has the Legend Pro pack with both coils the headset and power pack for $595. Is there any better deal for the dual coil package? I’ve been poking around and might bite today but want the best price for both coils

If you're a veteran you get a better price.

I am a retired army chief. Who is giving a vets discount? I tried searching a few websites but may have missed the vet discounts

Retired 1SG here. I bought from a dealer 15 miles from me. I drove there so no shipping and military discount I paid $540 OTD.

Pulled the trigger and ordered one today. It has shipped, so I should be unboxing and starting to learn the Legend in a few days.

You can find just the detector, no headphones, with stock coil for $425 with free shipping.

That is $5 less than the Garrett Apex smf barebones machine. And only $26 more than the Minelab Vanquish 540 although that includes headphones. The latter machines are not waterproof or as rugged.

Sure is a temptation.
