KG II and old button?

I spent about 2 hours in the 80+ degree heat and found another KG II and what appears to be an old button. Can anyone identify the age and tell if this actually a button? I am at a house that was built in the late 1600s.

I think it is an old, possibly mid 19th century, US Navy button. I noticed several examples searching "right facing eagle on recumbent fouled anchor". It has a partial halo of stars within a (probably) twisted line frame with 3 cannonballs appearing stacked below the anchor. Maybe Civil War era, although may even range up to just before WW II.
