I thought it was a lousy ending. They pan out just as they find the gold coins under the tree. Should have shown them celebrating the find. How are they going to divide it? Will they see any of it or will the government take it away from them? If they get a take of the loot, what happens next? Should have shown Andy fixing up their house, Lance getting his own home and so on. Way too many loose threads. Let's face it, they need another season!

Let's hope when they continue the series, the answer some of these questions like you suggested.

I put that on the previous page. The interior of the Two Brewers pub scenes are shot at a pub called The Crown and the owners of The Crown confirmed that they have reached an agreement to use their establishment for Series 4.

Thanks CountyWroker...I am glad it was not a dream on my part.

Our family bought the complete DVD set off of eBay which includes all the "extras" and have viewed them easily 10 times now...and still cannot get enough. Surprised when we see something we missed in the past...for example...the steam cloud Lance makes when he runs out of the tent and takes a pee behind a big tree.

This band named Soltre from Michigan/Indiana did a nice "cover" version of Johhny Flynn's theme song from The Detectorists.

This performance dates from 2017.

Band member, Adam Carter, added a new verse at the end to make the song a bit longer.

They must have done that after Series 2. Johnny Flynn wrote a third verse for Series 3. Did you not notice when you watched Series 3?

My favorite part- in the first episode where he looks down Becky's top, and she says 'Can you see anything?" He replies "wonderful things; marvelous things"..

Took me 3 times to realize it was a reference to Howard Carter opening Tut's tomb.
I like that they don't hit you over the head with everything.

Agreed, most of the humor is very subtle, you have to be paying attention or most of it will go right over your head.
You also will pick up stuff you missed when you watch a second and third time.

Yes...the Soltre "cover" and its new verse was done around 2015-2016 or so.

Both new sets of lyrics are good...both Flynn's and Adam Carter's.

I like the musical instruments the Soltre uses in their version.

As much as I loved The Detectorists, I think Crook is very brave if he writes Season 4...I think the first three series were so good, it's going to be difficult to write a fourth series to the same standard...

Also, the plot is going to be difficult to pick up a year or two after we left Andy and Lance and the DMDC...Their main permission will be built over as a solar farm by now, the their old meeting venue has been demolished in real life...Also I wonder how many of the original cast will be in Series 4?

It’s actually been five years since Series 3 was aired and it’s supposed to be at least another year before Series 4 would air, if it actually happens.

Read the whole thread, members have offered multiple ideas for new story lines. Some good, some not so good

I realise how long it's been in reality, but the gap in the story line does not have to be that long..

Regardless, I hope Series 4 is as good or better than the previous ones...Just watching Series 1....again! lol

Now I understand what you were implying. Like the title of my thread, I think just bringing Sophie back, if possible, for a new adventure would fill the bulk of the storyline.

I just watched Series 3 a few nights ago.
