A smaller scale gives less jumping of numbers. It is similar to number of tones. Some like one tone like most Tesoros, some two, three, four, five, eight, or all tones. Whites uses a 90 scale just for iron. I doubt anyone can tell the difference between 78 and 79 on that scale. My Omega 8500 gives a decimal point on a 0 to 99 scale which I really never found useful. I usually use all tones on my Legend but when I try to use all tones on my T2 it is much harder to understand what it is saying because there are just too many tones bouncing around, just like the numbers. Although most of the detectors I have owned uses a scale to 99, the Legend and Equinox 800 using less numbers seem to me to make it easier for me to tell what is under the coil. I saw many posts from Equinox 800 users wishing for 99 numbers and later saw some of the same complain the numbers were jumping around too much when they purchased the 900. This is just my opinion but then, I find lots of nice things with my Tesoros that don't even give any numbers. My advice is to learn the new scale as I believe the Score is the better of the two, but again, I am no expert.
