Hunting An Old Mill Town Sport Field

On Friday the temps hit the mid 60's which made the ground soft enough to dig in so on Saturday I hunted a site I've had my eye on . The site is a sport field adjacent to a group of old mill houses near an old long abandoned mill. The field is now a baseball and soccer field but possibly was a gathering place back in the 1800's and early 1900's when the mill was in operation. I thought it'd be a site with potential for some silver coins in the ground. I hunted for two hours and found 45 clad coins worth $7.48 but nothing silver. The oldest find was a decent looking 1945 Wheat Cent. I covered only a small part of the field and will be going back on my next hunt.
Nice job!

using wheaties as a possible indicator of silver at the site is all!
usually if they are located, silver "may" also be lurking!

That's one of the oldest cliches going. I look at it the other way around.......if you find silver, there may be some wheaties in the ground.

it's the mating season! finding wheaties AND silver together!
these days finding "a" wheat on a "cooked" site is cause for celebration!
just sayin'
