Looks like he was water testing the detector in a swimming pool. But IIRC, it's a PI for nugget hunters, so probably has much higher frequencies and probably tuned towards small nuggets. It also has a solid coil, and I know Earl prefers open coils, as do I.

But at least it's waterproof. Now, if they can just take that PI, adjust the frequencies and tune for saltwater beach hunting, and include an open coil, I'm sure Earl would jump on it.

At a price of 8990.oo I doubt if I will see anyone using it on the beaches or in the water locally. For sure out of my price range, it would take finding 170 grams of 10k.. 170 divided by the average 4 gram gold ring, would be 42 gold rings to pay for it..

The AQ should have been digital and had a similar touch screen.. And the 9000 does look much better made and though out. IP rating of 68 at 10 feet is not great so that means ship wreck divers won't be using it. I guess it will be up to Earl to have the only unit sold in the Mid-Atlantic states.

I find more gold than most and it's a hard pass from me. 3m water proof depth isn't good enough for 8k price tag. Imagine when they refuse to replace it when it leaks.. and they ALL leak eventually

Good luck to the nugget buster's buying this machine against ML , a losing battle , as far as beach , sea, lake , we don't pay for detector's set in the nugget detector- 4 times costly range , I hinted for years on making a new Pi Salt Water waterproof machine for year's , even ML scraped my idea on the development team , maybe Clive could get some companies to make a new pi in the $1500 range with open non solid coils , it appears that , it will never happen , Gold is to high , the market is in the Gold fields & a Million multi Freq. machines with new tweaks I will stick to my Whites TDIs & DF , it's so sad that Garrett Whites as I was looking for some new PI machines like the Beachhunter TDI , as far as my Pro's a water proof box is wanted like Clive built , TNSS I found you a new forum , 22 member's , like Spacex today on the stock market , your sales promo- kickbacks could be huge , have a nice day --- https://www.goldprospectorsspace.com/group/nuggetshooters , got to help a bro . out

2025 was a good year for silver, Here is my one year total on silver for part of 2024 into 2025, all my silver proceeds go to my GF..

I'd still like to know what exactly justifies a price of $8K or $9K for a PI? IIRC, I seem to remember reading that a PI's circuit is much simpler than an SMF. Of course, if ya start adding bells, whistles, and doodads, it would make the circuit a bit more complex, but from what I understand, the core circuitry for PI technology is fairly basic.

Does the new Nokta have some super high-tech space components that cost them $5K more per detector to buy? Or are they just using components, parts and such that can be found on a $2K PI, and just jacking up the price to be more exclusive? They must think that all nugget hunters are rich and rolling in gold nuggets. But really, does it cost them $6K more than it costs Fisher to make the AQ?

Maybe they're just adding in their costs for years of development, like pharmaceutical companies that spend years developing a new drug, that costs them $0.25 cents per pill to make, but they'll charge $50 or $100 per pill to recoup their development costs.

Yes just about, I started hunting the bay in 2013. Took me awhile to get use to it and seeing what was needed. I would go and watch the other hunters in the bay, even ask them questions, many were cold and unfriendly. And they had their clicks.. By Jan 2015 I had my drysuit and was ready to get serious.. Silver from 2015..

When it comes to the electronics no problem, its making it water proof (100%) to go under that is a real task. With the price of gold ...1500.oo is (3) 14k 6 grammers.....easier to buy a PI.

I've seen a couple really expensive pi machines on the beach over the years. And when talking to the users they said they wouldn't be back. Hunting the treasure coast even most won't be going in the water. But you could pay off the detector and buy a new car with one good find.
