Golden opportunity...

My son and daughter in law are friends with a couple who recently moved into a 5-acre property that dates back to the 1800s. They acquired the property from a relative, so the history is pretty well known.

My son knows me too well, and asked them if they knew if the property has ever been gone over with a metal detector. The first thing they mentioned was that a family member lost a heavy gold men's bracelet along the tree line, many years ago.

Permission to search shouldn't be a problem...planning to go next Wednesday if all works out. Of course, it will be a recovery, not an act of piracy. But the thing is supposedly worth at least $5k. That should get me some good will to search the rest of the property.

At one point, there was a large pond there. Apparently, the spring that fed it dried up in the 1950s. Unfortunately, they filled in the pond after it dried up. But I'm still excited to see what might be in the ground around the house.

I've had a "seated anything" on my bucket list for a long time...this could be my opportunity. It's over an hour drive from my house, which I never do just for the hobby. But for the bracelet, the age of the place, and my son...I'll make an exception.

Stay tuned!

Ugh. Hunt postponed due to property owners having multiple simultaneous home projects and a baby due soon. None of which has anything to do with me searching their property, but I guess they just aren't up to having visitors over. I'm told there will definitely be a next opportunity soon. I'll keep you all updated.
