I've been hunting a pair of local schools. They straddle an ancient road and both held Confederate camps along with seeing tons of traffic from, well the British, Continentals, Virginia militia in 1812, and both sides in the Civil War. I've been finding bullets and musket balls and last week I found a union Infantry button. But today, I was finding nothing. So I moved to the other side of one of the schools. That side is all sports fields. I immediately found the silver ring. And a little while later, up came the gold about fifteen yards away.

My sixth gold this year. A very pretty 14K gold ring. At first, I thought center was silver. But it may be white gold. It's studded with tiny diamonds. Though one is missing.

And, another silver ring (like ho-hum, right), a wheat cent, and a pile of modern coins. I find a silver jewelry piece or coin every week or two, and I actually don't always post about them.

Including a pic of the infantry button from the other day.

Nice!

I tried to acid test the silvery bit to see if it was silver or white gold. It washed right off revealing gold underneath. So it’s 3.1 grams of 14K. Not bad.

Good job on the gold from the dirt, in all the years I have dirt hunted I have found just 4 gold, maybe because I only hunt private properties, its why I beach hunt its easier to find.
