Found Enfield bullet with hole in the cavity, What is it?

Found this fired Enfield bullet the other day and I noticed a fairly deep hole about 1/8" in diameter and about 3/16" deep. Any idea why that's there?

This was actually found on a confirmed battlefield from 1863 (Don't worry I had permission)
