And don't forget that they ride against traffic, which is always a bad idea. Ride with traffic and walk against traffic is the rule.

Last week had 3 all together running in front of cars with the traffic, no helmets which means they are breaking the law here, one was very young probably about 12 tops...guess the parents didn't give them any advice.

Here in the Hamptons we have packs of fast bicyclists riding in long lines on winding, hilly, two lane country roads without shoulders. They are adults pedaling and wearing helmets, but you can imagine a disaster if one wipes out on gravel and takes the line down. Passing these groups is so dangerous. And probably most of them are lawyers, doctors, and wound up NYC Corporate execs. The problem may not be not be so much you or them, but the traffic coming in the other direction.

I think this is a thing nationally . What worries me is when stupidity happens , elected officials feel as though they need to "do something". As the owner of an E-bike that only rides rail trails and uses it for hunting in back country gated roads (Legal here in NH for now) I worry that as usual said politicians will over correct and it will end up affecting the wrong people. NH already has a law against electric dirt bikes being on the road, rail trail or private property. Yet I see these electric "bikes" that don't have pedals on the roads and rail trails literally daily and nobody is enforcing the current laws in place. Most of these are being ridden by pre driving age kids. However........ the kids ain't the ones buying those electric dirt bikes.
It's my experience that dumb kids come from dumb parents, arrogant kids come from arrogant parents, self serving kids come from self serving parents........ Just a thought. See the pattern?

Of all the driving I've done down the east coast, I have to say Conn. could have the worst drivers I've ever seen. Any kids being raised in Craig's state and being trained by parents to drive on the interstates is future crap show for the rest of us.
The Conn. cruise control is the 2.5 foot space between them and the next cars bumper in front regardless of speed , how few cars on the highway to a busy rush hour traffic . If they aren't drafting , they're wasting time on the highway. They're going to get there quicker by being on your bumper. (Particularly Hartford!!)
Rhode Island has the worst drivers in my opinion... my insurance says safe driver, In all the years I have driven no tickets, no accidents that includes 35 years of pulling a landscape trailer and snowplowing, my wife wonders how I get low insurance rates while she has higher ones, I tell her well, you have had 3 accidents and multiple tickets, its that simple. I steer clear of highways they are conjested all the time now since they started this build apartments making it look like NYC gone is the hometown feel. I can get to a area I want driving backroads faster than those on the highway... When people tailgate me I give them a little warning by braking hard, they generally back off, I doubt they want my ball hitch going thru their radiator lol.... Haha, that's what I do too. It's hard not to laugh seeing them panic and swerve back in their OWN lane.Well, I wake them up with my airhorns in my truck
I have zero regrets even if they wreck. I was rear-ended by an asss-wipe texting n driving. Hit me so hard my seat broke and went through back window..
Just got to be careful, you don't use airhorns on a elderly person might kill them lol.... I hate people who text and drive they deserve the accidents they get into.

Both our cars have hands-free cell phone functions, and when you set up your phone to use voice/dictation, you don't need to touch it while driving.
The problem is the other driver is doing the right thing and has to deal with the mess.

The worst ones are the lawnmower guys. They all drive like idiots and 20 MPH over the speed limit. And of course, they always have mangy looking trailers with brake lights and turn signals that don't work.
Not everyone is like that, when you generalize you include me in the conversation and I always drive the speed limit or less. If my lights didn't work I would get a ticket.

Shouldn't have said everyone, but I'd say at least 90% either speed or have no brake lights. Not hard to wire the trailer for brake lights and turn signals. No excuse for not having a safe trailer.

That has been the "rule" for years for the reason below but now that asss-wipes text while driving it's changed. Even though I wear a chartreuse shirt I still don't trust they'll see me when they're looking at their phone. I want to see if they're going to hit me.
I ride on the right but if a vehicle is coming up from behind I'll go to the left side (low traffic back road). That bit me in the asss when a dumb bitch blew through a stop sign from a road on the left. I swerved, hit soft sand, flipped and face planted the road. She just kept going. The guy coming from behind stopped and asked if I was ok. The world is full of different people... It'd be a bitch to be killed while exercising to live longer!
