Connecticut Buried Treasures

Pirates treasures, not captain kidd so call treasures.
I see where you are from... you are not too far from me... we don't have any treasure here, the Oak Island boys cleaned it all out on their way to Oak Island... what do you think financed their operation

On a serious note... I have heard tales of a couple guys finding a pot of coins on a beach I will not mention just because its a friends home beach... this was back in the 1800's... do I believe it? Probably not... I know of one person who found a gold piece of eight up here in a field... I know this because he cut the owners field... probably just a random drop from someone long ago as I know the history of the area... the guy showed it to the owner of the field he was cutting who took it from my friend... the landowner took it to a coin shop and the guy at the shop knew what it was but told the owner it was only worth melt as it was pretty smooth...

Well, if you are on to something, it's a great time to do a ton of research on your own to find the answers. The chances of someone on ANY metal detecting forum divulging treasure info is slim to none. But I do wish you much luck on your quest.:waytogo:

I have heard whispers of a secret hoard of Large Cents in fabulous variations and ranges of astonishing conditions that had been stashed in CT (East of the Mississippi for sure). The tale is they can only be found by following a series of cast shadows from stacked stones, uniquely shaped tree branches that align with ancient Aztecan carved statue noses, and subconsciously interpreting scenes from the 1987 movie Predator to guide you to them. But I think Tom_in_CA spends most of his spare time indulgently searching for them to add to his own secret hoard, so it may be a moot point....:D

Its been found already.... I remember a picture in Western and Eastern Treasure Mag... a guy dug up a cache of hundreds of large cents on the side of a hill in the woods... don't ask me where, I don't remember but I remember the huge amount of them from the pictures. It was over 10 years ago for sure... maybe more.

That was Tom in a disguise I’d bet!

The lesson here is never trust coin dealers.
