When I first started detecting I had Concentric Coils, then switched to Double D coils, and really struggled with it, I did so much better with Concentric than Double D ? Anybody can share their opinion with me ? Is it true the Double D goes deeper ?
thank you all, appreciate it. :iwish: :?::?::toofunny::pirate2::workforgold::workforgold:

It is definitely different. It took awhile to get used to the double D for me. The accuracy of the pinpoint of whites machines was killer. The double D takes some getting used to. I don't think all things between the two that the Double D goes deeper, in most cases probably not but the separation is better. There are trade offs for sure.

DD coils separate better (less masking). Are less affected by ground minerals.
Conc coils don't false as bad on bottle caps and can I.D. better- less jumpy numbers. They can be deeper in the center spot but that requires way more overlapping compared to the DD.
Some of ^ will also depend on which detector you're using.

After using a beginner's detector with a concentric I went DD on the upgrade. A Minelab Xterra 705, all DD coils. Lots of research on the subject swayed me to DD. Separation and I loved the Wiggle pull back method for testing the signal for trash vs coin. That always worked for me. Now I have the Nox 600, DD loaded on of coarse. Nicer to use, my 2 cents worth Oh inflation - Corrected-My $1.75 worth. tin

I started with an ACE250 with a concentric. Then I heard about their DD coil and got one. Wow! What a change, for the better... I've had DD coils on all 8 of my machines (except my Surf PI) and have no desire to go back to a concentric coil.

I too started out with the concentric coils in all my machines until I got the E-Trac. Took some time to get used to but now I would be hard pressed to go back. My opinion is yes, the DD coils do go deeper. But that is my opinion.;)

I had detectors with concentric coils from 1983 until 2018 and found a lot of good things with them. I got my first detector with a DD coil in 2018 and no longer use a detector with a concentric coil. I like the DD and have found good things with it too, but I can't really say if it goes deeper because I've found deep coins with both.

Before the DD coils, guess everything was concentric ? Thank you all for your comments. I'm just sitting here in Mi. watching it rain, going to make the snow hard as a rock !! I have to get with Hoser and dig some treasures !! This Winter isn't close to being over. !!! :?: :?: :?: :iwish::iwish:
