Carbon fiber handle. Top section of travel handle too long for suitcase

So I have the CKG travel handle for my scoop, but the top section is about 4 inches too long. I can't seem to get the rubber handle off the top of it so I can cut it down...and if I cut just below that, it will be shorter than I want. Any suggestions on where I can either buy a shorter top shaft, or how in blazes to get that dang rubber thing off? It's nice and snug, which is great for when it's being used, but not when I WANT to take it off temporarily

Disregard....I used an air compressor Worked like a charm
