Hmm. May be interesting to do some scuba detecting where the copper-canyon lake parties used to happen
on lake Havasu too... With the craziness that happened there before it got shut down (years and years of partying)
there's likely LOTS of lost items at the bottom of the lake. I'm thinking a tonne of cans and trash too, but a good
amount of lost valuables too.

I'm going to have to try to remember where we used to hang out on the river below the dam in Parker now too.
I bet there's a lot of things buried in the silt on the riverbottom there too and it is likely shallow enough to detect
without scuba gear.
Mid 80s I spent a summer there doing a construction job. We stayed in the home right on the river in Havasu Palms. The epicenter of party ville. Sheer insanity and debauchery going on. We'd take breaks and ride waverunners to the bluffs where everyone jumped off. I did lose a pair of Raybans off my ski. I think there's videos of scuba hunting out there already. We'd start work about 4 or 5am and end by 1pm. Taking breaks every half hour because of the heat. Our hand tools were in buckets of water they'd get so hot. I remember once taking a picture of a thermometer with my watch held up next to it at 5pm. It was 125°.

I remember camping during the summer there and submerging myself with a hose to breath out of because of the heat.
Even at night we had to hook swamp coolers up to our tents in order to make it cool enough to sleep.

Oddly the memories from that time are all of the great fun we had.

I could be mistaken but I don't believe that scuba diving is generally allowed in the Avalon harbor where those coin tossing activities took place. Once a year, however, they allow scuba diving as part of a bay clean-up and me and my daughter participated around 2015. We found lots of trash and some cool looking bottles but I remember someone claiming to have found a Rolex.

True. You can't scuba in the harbor area. Also , there are many Marine Protected Areas around the entire island where no fishing is allowed. When I fished in the 90s , there were only a few protected areas. Now there are many. Even Laguna Beach now , so many areas commercial boats can't fish anymore.
