I don't normally post toasted coppers, but Tom needs something to comment on here! I've been metal detecting a reservoir that's been lowered so they can work on the dam. Two people told me there's colonial relics there, but struck out two days in a row, until yesterday. Got an 84 signal and pulled out a toasted big copper about six inches down. First thought it was a KG II, but it also looks a little like a King Charles II from the 1670s. I know it's in rough shape, but what do you guys think? KG II or KC II?

Congratulations, Tim! I can see how it might be a King Charles, although (at least to my inexperienced eye) the angle of the jawline more closely resembles that of King George. 🤷‍♀️

Either way, that's a really old coin! I see in your signature that your oldest coin is from 1723... so even if this is a KG II, rather than a KC II, it will come in somewhat close to that.
