I dug this up in a spot where I have found old bottles and household relics and close to a long abandoned coal mine.Any ideas? It is non ferrous.

Looks to me like a valve stem from a large tire. If there are threads inside the small end, they are for screwing in a shraeder valve, to fill with air.
Yeah ... likely a truck valve stem (or heavy equipment)as the inside of the small end is threaded and it probably had rubber and a nut on the large end. Thanks everybody for the help!
