All I can say is WOW!

This site is a corn field that’s been disked in the fall. It’s not bad to swing in. Full of nails not much trash left after hitting it so many times. So not many targets. Maybe 30% can slaw? Most every thing else is a old target. All that said I don’t know what I’m doing with this machine. I’m in field 1 had the sensitivity up around 23 and when I’m in the nails I’m running recovery speed 7 or 8 but when I get outside of the nails I put it down to 4 or 5

Any pointers would be welcome.

I almost made a big mistake. Most of the can slaw that’s left is nickel size and is coming up on my machine anywhere from 14 to 18. I was getting tired after working on the farm in the morning and digging about four hours. I got a 16 17 that sounded good but I decided to pass it up. Went two feet and got a 32 dug it and it was something old not sure what it was it had been broken. Thinking maybe that 16 17 may have been a part of this thing I went back and dug it. Out popped that 3 cent nickel. On old sites you really have to dig every signal!
Unfortunately I have little experience with field hunting. I mainly use Field 2 5 tone Rec 4 Ib 0 for parks and yards. That was carry over from my go to mode on the 800. It does pretty good but I have to say its not the same. Is it better ? I think. Haven't quite figured it out yet. I do know the 900 was hitting targets in my test garden that the 800 was having trouble seeing. The same goes for beach mode. One thing I have seen is Park 1 on the 900 is an improvement over the 800. IMO. Glad to see you're enjoying the 900. Good luck. Mark

You bring up a great point there. Old site, with lots of old targets. Even with those iffy VDIs, it may be worth the effort to dig nearly everything because you could be passing up a gem. Dig the likely "junk" to discover the reward. There are spots I want to go back to for the very reason you just identified. Good for you in sticking to it.

Nice hunt. Thats a weird cut for a Pistareen. Ive found dozens of Spanish cobs and many later milled reales but only one cut Pistareen. They just dont show up on sites here in Maryland though they find tons in Virginia
