A gun stand

A friend has a civil war rifle he wants to display. So I made him a stand to display it. As I was making it I had an idea to fancy it up a little. Added CS and US on each end. I’m hoping he likes it.

It’s cherry. It was just a board that comes off the trucks when they bring us sign posts. When I started working out of school I learned to hand carve. I was pretty good but the computers have put me out to pasture. This was routed on my 5’x10’ router table.
