I was able to get permission at a construction site. Unfortunately they are building homes on part of the battle field in Gettysburg. The national park is across the street. The battle maps show the troops crossed directly thru this property. Most of this property has already been destroyed but a little bit is still swingable. I only got permission for the day. I hit it hard with a friend. I was a little surprised that we only found one bullet between the two of us that my friend found. No buttons. The only thing I found was an amazing find. I’m sure this property had been detected before but I think the reason we didn’t find many old targets was it’s in a flood plain and after digging this plate and seeing how deep it was and what the soil looked like at this deep. I think the smaller things like buttons and bullets were to deep to hear them. Getting to my find! When I got to the site I made a big circle to try and judge the site. The only thing I found that was old was a horse shoe. So when I was done my circle I decided to go to where I found the horse shoe. Maybe ten feet from the horse shoe I got a signal. It wasn't very strong. Of corse it was under a big root. After digging down 12” there’s a little brass looking rim sticking out of the dirt.😃 After some careful digging out popped my first box plate. It’s in great shape besides the iron poking thru the face. A great opportunity that pays off big time for me.

That's awesome! If you're only going to find one thing that would definitely be top of the list! I've only ever found one and I'd consider myself lucky if I even saw another again. Big congrats!

They started clearing a lot in my town yesterday. Colonial road on one side, a literal still existing Civil War fort on the other. Of course I asked. Got the big no. For no good reason, really. Very frustrating.

I’m sorry to hear that. No is the easies for them. So people you just can’t convince. I start out by telling them how much I love the history in the area. Then some quick discovery’s I’ve found near by. Than I’ll ask. Even if the answer is no if they are still willing to talk I’ll keep talking about the history. Than maybe sometime later I’ll drop in again. Now they know you. This makes it a little easier for them to say yes. It’s don’t always work but it’s worth trying.
