So I have a running streak with the 'Core in that I have ONLY been going over ground that I have basically hunted before with the CTX (multiple times in most cases) and have found silver each time. I wanted to see the 'Core perform in ground that I have hunted with a "better machine". The CTX has been very very good to me, it is just a little slow in targeting. My past hunts have proven that the 'Core is better at ID'ing and locking onto a good signal. Yesterday it was a 2.9 gram .925 pendant that sounded (and looked) like a quarter and a 1902 IHP.

Today I hit ground in a "bedroom community" of 1920s era homes....I have found Merc after Rosie after Merc there over the years. Today I didn't find anything but Wheaties (and that was on a permission) and no silver, but the last curb I decided to hit again before swinging to the truck in defeat, I got a nice 81 bouncing to 83, 4 inches or less.

When I pulled the plug I saw a dull rim that, at first glance, looked like a corroded zinc or something else, when I grabbed it I realized it was silver and then the "ONE DIME" showed....very pleasantly surprised to break the 1800s in this community. The Barber was within 5 inches of a rusty bolt and 9 inches away from a clad dime.....I can see how the CTX missed this gem.

HH and GL all.....

Congrats on the sterling and Barber dime Bull. Glad to see you are liking the Manticore. Good luck. Mark

Thanks Mark....I still have a desire to head back to PA at some point. I have to first get back to my "honey hole"....then maybe I can figure out how to get over to PA to do some hunting there....looks like you are cleaning up. CONGRATS to you!

Some interesting toning on that Barber for sure. Thanks for the update on your Manticore experience to date as well.

You just made my wait on the manticore even more intense. Great post hope you have many more finds like that

Hey Paul, congratulations on keeping the silver streak alive with the Manticore on Sunday. The Barber dime is a great find. I also liked your silver jewelry find from Saturday. Too bad the rest of the hunt that day wasn't very productive, despite the promising looking permissions and curbstrips. I think I'm running about 5 silvers out of 9 trips with the Manticore. Hopefully we'll both add to our totals this coming weekend. GL & HH

Let's see Gale, looking forward to the hunt

Sharp Barber! I've hunted with the Manticore 4 weekends, and have 3 silver Washingtons, 1 Merc, 1 Rosie, plus 2 silver jewelry items. I get better with it every hunt.

You are finding success as well...Yesterday was a dual V-Nickel hunt (oldest 1887) and a 1917S Merc
Very nice Paul , hoping for some 1800 silver myself , happy hunting , Earl
Not 1800s silver but definitely a 1887 Nickel
Congrats on the Barber and owning the top of the line Minelab đź‘Ť
Well, maybe it is ToL in some circles...it is fast than the 3030 and lighter, but it is a tight race between the two.
