So I have a running streak with the 'Core in that I have ONLY been going over ground that I have basically hunted before with the CTX (multiple times in most cases) and have found silver each time. I wanted to see the 'Core perform in ground that I have hunted with a "better machine". The CTX has been very very good to me, it is just a little slow in targeting. My past hunts have proven that the 'Core is better at ID'ing and locking onto a good signal. Yesterday it was a 2.9 gram .925 pendant that sounded (and looked) like a quarter and a 1902 IHP.
Today I hit ground in a "bedroom community" of 1920s era homes....I have found Merc after Rosie after Merc there over the years. Today I didn't find anything but Wheaties (and that was on a permission) and no silver, but the last curb I decided to hit again before swinging to the truck in defeat, I got a nice 81 bouncing to 83, 4 inches or less.
When I pulled the plug I saw a dull rim that, at first glance, looked like a corroded zinc or something else, when I grabbed it I realized it was silver and then the "ONE DIME" showed....very pleasantly surprised to break the 1800s in this community. The Barber was within 5 inches of a rusty bolt and 9 inches away from a clad dime.....I can see how the CTX missed this gem.
HH and GL all.....
