I find that parents in my local parks will "park" their curious kids with me-making it seem like I am child sitting. Sometimes, the parents are quite far away. How do I politely explain that I am busy? I don't mind telling the kids what I am doing, but it gets ridiculous sometimes. Any good suggestions? I do wear headphones, and that helps a little.

I love when kids come up to me when I am detecting. Here being a woman is a great advantage as we are perceived to be "safe" and parents don't generally have any issues with their kids approaching a single woman. I always have two shovels and a few flags. Put em to work girl! I find two or three targets, and flag them. I let them dig and find whatever. If it is silver- its mine. Anything else, they can have it. Even junk- they are thrilled to find it!
