I was wondering what camera forum members use for photographing their coins & finds? and can it replace a good loupe or do they prefer a particular one?

I am not that good with technology...I use my iPhone camera for pictures I want to post. The pictures I take with it I do not need to resize to post. For my personal enjoyment of high quality, I use a Sony Cyber-shot with 18.2 mega pixels. 30x optical zoom. I found lighting is more important in showing details, add some light from the side.

If I'm being lazy, I use the camera on my Galaxy s3. If I want high quality images, I use my EOS 50D.

I use a Cannon A620 as its got a great Macro for close ups.

Those are some nice pictures. Good clear detail.

I usually use my iPhone. I have a clip on macro lens for when I want to get good close ups. I download the pictures from my phone to my computer to resize, crop, color correct, rotate.

I use a Kodak easyshare C195.

PROS: AA batteries are cheap, and easier to change in the field; small and light weight; video option; SD card storage can hold a lot of data.

CONS: Auto focus could be better; small buttons on top are a challenge for fat fingers; mic for recording is weak at a small distance.

Its getting old and needs replacement. Ill probably get something similar since I like the ability to pop in easily obtained AA batts when the others get low. The ability to make recordings are also good if I ever decide to document hunts, and a 16GB SD Card goes a long way.

Ive never used a camera to take good pictures of coins , but I used to get some really good results with a flatbed scanner and an image editor for cropping , etc.

I have a Z orb.
It plugs right into the USB port on the front of the computer and I believe it is 60x zoom.
It has 4 LED's on it for illumination.
Perfect for coins!

About how much does that cost and is there software that must be loaded to use it? 60x zoom sounds great!
