When I first started research on electrolysis, ChicagoRon's vid on youtube seemed to be the best tutorial, out of a lot of others offering contradicting info. I started with salt, but it gets nasty on the hardware, as well as the plumbing. I strongly suggest using a container bigger than a drinking glass. My first charger fried after a very short touching of the contacts in a similar sized jar. Also, change your water, if it gets that dirty. The crud can reattach itself to the item being cleaned, which gets you nowhere. There was more material coming off my stainless, than the target, which resulted in murky water. I have had no major dirty water problems after switching to washing soda. Results may vary. If you are new to electrolysis, this is a pretty good intro to cleaning small stuff. Enjoy.
