hi all, Pete here.

yeah, i've taken the magnet for a swim from time to time. my very first time was in a lake and that first throw got caught between 2 huge rocks. it took me a while, but i eventually got it free!
for now i'm using a 300lb mag and it certainly attracts some targets, lol. fish hooks and nails are very common targets, but i've also got some coins and tools as well.
one important thing is to try to keep your magnet as clean as possible. all those little pieces of stuff stuck to it will greatly reduce it's pulling poser. when they rate the mags, it's fully attached to something without ANY space between. they're very strong in that regard, but much less when there's any kind of a gap between your mag and the target.
and good gloves are a must! not only are your targets dirty and rusty, many of them are very sharp! protect your fingers and keeping your hands dry will keep them warmer for much longer.

i just wish silver and gold would stick to the mag, but i guess you can't have it all.....
