When you change coil sizes, you will want to change the Recovery Delay accordingly. The larger the coil, the higher the Recovery delay - based upon your swing speed.
The ideal recovery delay can be found by placing two coins a coils width apart, and adjusting the RD for your swing speed until you get two distinct reponses.
If your recovery delay is too slow for your coils size, you are going to get masking. If it is too fast for your coil size, you are going to get a lot of chatter as it hits the same target twice.
So, if you are using a 4x6 coil with the default recovery delay of 80, you are going to be past the target before it finishes processing.
I recommend that you download the V3i Advanced Posts book (search for that on google - I would post the link, but I think they frown on posting links to other forums). Much of it will pertain to the VX3.
I also recommend that you read the manual -
http://www.whiteselectronics.com/med...ion_manual.pdf - it is very informational.
Also, make sure you are using the correct filter for your ground mineralization, you are not running RX too high, etc. The 5hz filter is best suited to slowing swing speeds, and the 12.5Hz filter is better suited to faster swing speeds. Basically, if you swing too fast with the 5Hz filter, you are going to get noise. If you swing too slow in the 12.5Hz filter, you will also get noise.
