We, my wife Kay and I, retired from the Army in 1982 after 21 years in uniform. During the years 1966-1978, I served with the 1st Bn. 64th Armor, 3rd Infantry Division at Schweinfurt, Germany. The only metal we were allowed to work with then was our M60A1 tanks, the M88VTR's and assorted other tracked and wheeled vehicles. Metal detecting wasn't even thought of by US Forces personnel, and we never had time to discuss any personal information with the German Nationals. It would be interesting to hear from some folks, either or both civilian and military. When I came back to the States in 1968 I had a full quota of German souvenirs, a china cabinet, a cookoo clock and a baby daughter
