Default 14k White gold Nazi ring??

so i found this ring, not by metal detector but didn't know where else to post it.
it is marked 14K with an upside down triangle with what looks like a "W" on the inside. to me the upside down triangle with W looks like a diamond but i'm not sure. there is also a swastika on each side of the ring and what looks like a dragon or something on each side too. anyways here are the pics.

oh and also the stone to me looks really crappy/dull or maybe just old not too sure and the ring looks like it has been tested for gold alot of times so i'm not too sure about whether its real or not . anyways thanks

The swastica is a good luck symbol in some asian cultures...

The swastica was used for thousand years before the Nazis adapted and changed it... The American indians used it long before the Nazi's as well.

From the marks I can see it looks like a nice 14k gold ring and not Nazi.

There was also a ladies organization called the Swastika Club. It was very popular in the frist part of the 20th century. Some catalogs offered ladies jewelry with the swastika on it.

Hey,

I have no idea as to how much it is worth, but I am sure that it is worth more than scrap. I doubt the local "mom and pop" type of antique stores would be much help in giving a value, but if you can find a dealer that specialized in vintage jewelery, they should be able to help you. You might even find an online dealer that might be able to help.

Doug

I would not send that off to be melted down.

That's a pretty cool ring. I'd be curious to know what it's worth. Congrats on the find!

Interestingly I found this link to a Nazi/Dragon ring. http://www.northerngoodies.com/store/item/ns_2682.html

Might not be Asian?

Yeah I believe it's a symbol of luck in the Asian countries way before the Nazi's adopted the symbol. Don't fret....it wasn't worn by a Nazi Fräulein.

also the swastika is rotated 45 degrees in Nazi symbolism. They were very anal about that. Yours is a good luck symbol

It's a good luck symbol. I doubt your ring has any connection to Asian cultures. Prior to WW2, the good luck symbol like the one on your ring could be found on hundreds of varieties of good luck tokens and coins.

Simply by design, I would say you have a very old ring but that doesn't mean it couldn't be plated.

The paired swastika symbols are included, at least since the Liao Dynasty, as part of the Chinese writing system (卍 and 卐) and are variant characters for 萬 or 万 (wàn in Mandarin, man in Korean, Cantonese and Japanese, vạn in Vietnamese) meaning "all" or "eternity" (lit. myriad). The swastika marks the beginning of many Buddhist scriptures. In East Asian countries, the left-facing character is often used as symbol for Buddhism and marks the site of a Buddhist temple on maps.

In Chinese and Japanese the swastika is also a homonym of the number 10,000, and is commonly used to represent the whole of Creation, e.g. 'the myriad things' in the Dao De Jing. During the Chinese Tang Dynasty, Empress Wu Zetian (684-704) decreed that the swastika would also be used as an alternative symbol of the Sun.

In Japan, the swastika is called manji. Since the Middle Ages, it has been used as a coat of arms by various Japanese families such as Tsugaru clan, Hachisuka clan or around 60 clans that belong to Tokugawa clan.[25] On Japanese maps, a swastika (left-facing and horizontal) is used to mark the location of a Buddhist temple. The right-facing manji is often referred to as the gyaku manji (逆卍, lit. "reverse manji") or migi manji (右卍, lit. "right manji") , and can also be called kagi jūji (literally "hook cross").

In Chinese and Japanese art, the swastika is often found as part of a repeating pattern. One common pattern, called sayagata in Japanese, comprises left- and right-facing swastikas joined by lines.[26] As the negative space between the lines has a distinctive shape, the sayagata pattern is sometimes called the "key fret" motif in English.

As a pottery graph of unknown provision and meaning the swastka-like sign is known in Chinese Neolithic culture (2400-2000 BCE, Liu wan 柳湾, Qinghai province).

Doesn't "prove" that this is of asian nature, but the dragon on it would lead one to believe that...
