Default Heat damage in the car?

Has anyone ever had any negative consequences after keeping their detector in their car due to the high temps the interiors can reach during the day? I've often thought it'd be nice to have a detector at the ready in case I came upon an opportunity, buy I don't know if the heat would eventually do damage.

Don't have that problem up here in Maine especially this time of the year.

Here In Missouri it's get HOT. Add humidity to that and I would never leave a machine in my car. I plan on just taking mine in to work, since we have lockers.

Don't expose your sensitive and expensive electronics to extreme heat or cold. I know a gal that left her Ace 250 in the car in Phoenix, last August, and it killed the screen!

I left my headphones in the car here in NC, and the heat caused the coiled cord to crack and break all along the length of it. Never did coil up right after that. Had to replace them.

The operating temperature specs should be observed for storage as well to preserve electronics. Like Terry said the screen will usually be the first thing to go.

Default I wouldn't

If you have Common humid conditions and very hot or very cold climate, I would not keep my Detector in my car. Keep all other detecting accessories in your car and maybe just load and unload the MD. That's what I plan on doing...Good Luck and Happy Hunting...

Mike, if memory serves, Garrett is specific on this in their manual on my Infinium LS.
Don't do it! In our area the extreme temps. in the summer would be the end of the machine....Bill

I keep mine in my truck all the time. When I started I would bring it in, but during the summer it would get condensation on it really bad when I would take it out side.

Whats worse, heat or condensation?

Thank you for your input and advice, guys...you've confirmed for me what I already suspected...the car's not the place to store a detector!

Default Heat

Heat tends to be very bad for the headphones. When the weather is moderate or if you have tinted windows and you can park in shady areas you can get away with it. It's always nice to have a $140.00 Compadre in the back of the car shaded from the sun. But I would not do it with a high end detector!
