I noticed for example that a $25 roll of Native American dollars is $39.95 plus shipping.
Has anyone done this, and is it worth the premium they charge? I want to start investing in coin, but still exploring the best options for me. __________________ |

Do any coin collectors think that it is worth it to invest in 1900's silver coins at these prices considering how many of them may be getting destroyed for melt value?
It seems kind of risky, but at the same time I don't see the price of silver crashing very hard. __________________ |

Are you saying a full roll of silver dollars is $39.95 or a single silver dollar is $39.95 which is high but more likely for a circulated coin .....unless it's uncirculated then it's about right ...... I like to keep pre-1964 coins for their silver value in case the paper dollar drops off bad..... old collector coins are great but i want to cash in silver if it's needed in hard times.

I bought coins from the govt several times, but it was only when new designs came out and i bought them for resale on ebay. If you can get them on ebay within first couple days of release you can make a hefty profit because the mint only offers a certain amount, once they are gone, they are GONE

Is it worth the extra cost to have a complete roll, in special mint wrapper, to a collector?
ABSOLUTELY! I collected the states quarters from the beginning. Go to Ebay and look at the price difference between a bank roll of "uncirculated" and the mint wrapped rolls, and then look at the mint wrapped, still in the mint shipping box. |

Is it worth it? Depends. Variables change.
Are these over minted coins they're trying to part ways with? IF so value will be less as there will be a ton of them. When the presidential dollar coins came out, the mint would sell them to you without shipping/handling fees or mark ups. The minimum order was $250 for pres. dollar coins and that's all you paid. Now even for those that they have billions of (literally) they charge a fee of $14.95 and require still a minimum. Will those be worth anything? Not in my opinion. So make sure you know what the mintage count is first, and evaluate your long term and see if it's worth it. |
