I saw this on a list of valuable coins in circulation today...
"9. Certain Uncirculated State Quarters As the economy has worsened, people who have been hoarding rolls of State Quarters have been spending them into circulation. If you can put together whole rolls Uncirculated quarters of certain in-demand states, you can get as much as $50 per roll for them." Once they have gone here..."have been spending them into circulation.", are they still uncirculated? And how would you possibly know? Just wondering if I am nuts? __________________ |

Many folks bought rolls from their banks when each state was introduced. The novelty wore off on some people and others cashed them back to the banks because they need the money. Small banks will sell you those rolls. Larger banks will except rolls, but open them and dump them into counters that separate the coins into denominations. These coins are dropped into bags under the counter-sorter. When they are filled they are picked up by a courier and returned to a central spot. YOU can buy that bag from the bank, dimes quarters or halves. No doubt you will find au and unc quarters. The beauty of buying a bag like that is you may stumble over a good pile of silver coins that someone cashed in at face. Check out the "Whats the value"
subforum and see what CRHers find....Good Luck Gil |
