Merry Christmas everyone. yesterday while out hunting my Garrett pro pinter started acting up. When I would turn it on, it would make a sound like a siren sound. It would continue to make the sound until I turned it off. I thougth maybe low battery, but I check and the battery was good. When I got home it quite make the sound and went back to operating correctly. Any ideas?

I'm not sure what the problem is.. could be a bad amp or other component. You might want to call and talk to Brad at Garrett, you may get it replaced if the problem happens again.. Hopefully another member will have more info on the pinpointer

I had the exact same problem with the siren going off about a week ago. I replaced the battery even though the battery still had juice in it and I haven't had an issue since. Hope it helps!

Small batteries can show good volts but not deliver the milliAmps when needed. Best to change out the battery and retest when problems are suspected. Even spinning the battery in its holder, cleaning the contacts sometimes "corrects" a problem.

In the manual it says that the siren sound is a low battery indicator.
The likely reason is because of the cold affecting the battery output in the field, and then being warm again when in the house it seems to be OK. If the battery is marginal, getting it cold will push it over the cliff (so to speak). Replace the battery and it will be fine. __________________ Slow Down, and you'll achieve a more harmonious outcome. Also keep in mind, the best you know is the best that you've had.
