Default Ever see an old cajun guy breakdance on the side of the road? LOL!

I hit the road early this morning and hunted a couple of spots i've had good luck in the past. I concentrated on really deep signals, and ended up digging a few pieces of iron, as well as a few wheaties and deeper memorial cents.

During the hunt in these 2 places, i dug 6 signals that were hitting on the 25 cent to 50 cent range. These ended up being 5 tokens for some local festivals held here annually, and one cylinder for an old cap gun.

On the way home i swung by an old 1910 built house to see if they had ever cut the grass....nope not yet. So i decided to hit some curb strips right around the corner from that particular house. It's a fairly wide curb strip, but not too long. After a few clads and a wheatie, i get my 7th 50 cent hit of the morning. Cut the plug and saw a 1 1/2 inc thick root running across my hole, but the target is still sounding off below it. I stuck my digger into the hole on the side, and pried up a chunk of dirt out from under the root. WAIT A SEC!! What do i see ? Its shiny, and has a rounded edge!!! I reach in the hole and rub it a little with my finger, and i see an eagle wing. heyyyyyyyyy........that isnt the eagle on a walker...could it be the eagle on a barber? no way....well..maybe. I was trying to convince myself i didnt find what was obviously sitting right in front of me .
Sure enough...my FIRST barber coin EVER!!!!!! I was almost cuttin flips when i got it out and looked at it. . Its a little worn..ok a lot worn..but its gorgeous to me!!! 1900 barber Half Dollar..no mint mark.
Thanks for looking, HH all and Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very nice find! Not many barber halves out there. Now you'll have to change your signature block!

(to the tune of Beverly Hillbillies, obviously)

Well, you listen to a story of a man named hook,
found a Barber Half and started actin' like a schnook.
People saw him dancin' and they thought he was nuuuuuuuuuuuuuts,
'cuz he found a coin and started dancing like a putz.

I've done the same thing many times myself and believe me, to see a 400 pounder do a happy dance is something no other human should be subjected to!

Congrats on an awesome find!!

Hook, I can see you dancing right there on the curb side and even singing out a song of praise to all the metal detecting gods. That's one very nice find. My only Barber is a 07 Half and it sure had me singing and a dancing. Congrat's, you earned the smile. Jack

Default Nice Barber

Way to get under that root. Sometimes the best coins are the hardest to dig. My only Barber (a Dime) was also a 1900. Hey, I like those tokens as well. You had a great hunt my friend.
