Sweet find, Looks like a .44 Henry but after sizing it to your 45 in picture? you really got a nice find.

Just from looking at the pic, I would venture a guess of a .56-56 Spencer. Nice find!

I wouldn't think it was a spencer with the H on the bottom. Henry had the H on the bottom and was a double rim fire. The only ones I see in Mason's book is a .44 cal. But didn't they have a larger caliber right after the war. Just before it became the Winchester repeater.

Winchester loaded several different cartridges with the 'H' headstamp, not just the .44 Henry. Without any dimensions I too agree with Turtefoot that is is most likely 56-56 spencer.
