I have had my Garrett ace 250 for almost a month now so in still leaning it. While I have gotten the hang of it in fields and parks, the beach is a pain. I went last week with the setting in "all metal" and started swinging. After hearig my first target, I attempted to pinpoint it but every area gave off a strong signal. And then I would lose the signal. Note this happened in both damp and dry sand.
So is there a setting it has to be on or am I doing wrong? Thanks, tips would be greatly appreciated |

your sensativity sounds like it might be to high.in dirt i hunt 2 notches from the top.sand about 4from the top.its called falsing.the minerals are fooling the machine
but their are some machines that need to be sent back to garret.i saw one air test not pick up the target when it should have.that machine went back __________________ |

This is probably stated in better detail on another thread here. Just do a search for it.
Dry: Sensativity 5-6 max. All metal or relic or jewelry is fine Coin or custom if you just want silver You will dig allot of can tabs and tops if you want a chance at gold. Wet: sensativity 3+1 Same modes Nickles show up at multiple spots. Only Chase whispers of deep targets. Lots of broken tabs show good but not strong. You will develop a feel. No adjustable ground balance so you have to use the windage method so-to-say. I have found every type or target but gold with my Ace but it is a matter of timing before it sinks too deep. __________________ |

I stay more than 2 meters away from the waterline. I hunt with it the same way as with my excalibur. Only notch out iron on custom and sensitivity to about half depending on the beach, dig all REPEATABLE signals. It's not the best machine for the wet sand bit it will work. My wife found a gold ring a few months ago on the damp sand with these settings so it can be done!
