Default Solid Cherry MD case

Here's the case I made for my ACE. It's made from solid cherry that was left over from a cabinet install we did over the summer. I used Google SketchUp 8 to find the right shape and then the right angels. the detector positioning braces are 3/4 as are the sides, the top and bottom are 3/16 Masonite with a vainer of 1/16 cherry on one side. The padding is an old mattress pad that I saved for this last winter. The fabric I used was some upholstery fabric I picked up at a sale for $5, I don't know how much I fabric there is but the roll is 48" x 12"dia. I think the green looks nice with the cherry! It's not quite finished yet. Still need to finish the hold downs and do some sanding and put a nice heavy coat of poly.

Now if this thing didn't weight 30+ lbs!!!!

LMAO! Looks like a coffin, are you planning on having a funeral?

If so, me and Skiwhiz will be attending for sure.

All joking aside, it looks nice, and done with expertise.

Great craftsmanship, but it does look like a coffin. I can hear the eulogy now "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, this Ace ain't riding back to town with us."

Thats a mighty long case-for a three piece machine. Nice job though.

If it dies, you could send it back to Garrett in your case. ^_^

I hope you don't give your detector any bad luck with the coffin shape.

"Yer County 911, What's your emergency?"

"Yeah, um, there's a guy digging in the park, and it looks like he has a childs's coffin that he's about to bury."

"Ok, sir, we'll send an officer out there."
