Question Straight shafts for water machines

I'm looking for a less arm fatigue. From what I've read straight shafts will help with this, i have Sand Shark and would like advice on one that would work for this machine.

Default Yup

Build your own using a aluminum cane. That's what I did . Works great and cost under 30$

I just ordered the Plugger rod for my sand shark. I believe it's an all around good investment. Should balance out nicely

I also have a Plugger rod and really like it. Buy his new shaft lock for $12, and he will install that on your purchased straight shaft. The shaft lock is a great improvement over the original cam lock.

I thought you could chest or belt mount the Sand Shark control box so you would just be swinging the pole & coil.

Probley about half the weight swinging.

I've tried the belt mount, I'm sure for some it works, but I wasn't comfortable.

I made mine as well out of aircraft aluminum and parts from a SOV upper shaft.... but those bike handles work great. Erickk helped me and the shaft fit so well i never put a shaft lock on it. What ive found is i dont need one and its easier to clean and dont freeze up so they come apart easily. That said the Plugger shaft and lock is a great product.

I make my own, easy to do. Here is a post with step by step instruction with a parts list. A straight shaft you make yourself is easy to modify to your hunting style. http://metaldetectingforum.com/showt...straight+shaft

I made my own, but can change between straight and "S' shaft with one change. Sometimes I prefer the "S" because of my long, Sasquatch like arms...

That's what I did, bought a cordless tool holster off of Feebay and carry the control box on my belt. Reduces the weight as well as shortens the distance the headphone wire needs to travel so I'm not pulling on them with the shaft. Tigershark but same configuration as the SS. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-CORDLESS...ht_3377wt_1396

Think I've made about 10 different shafts, my favorite is the Carbon Fibers. Canslaw is correct, you really can't buy one to fit your exact needs, best to taylor fit to your hunting style and make a couple.

You're 100% right.

With some searching I found a company that makes and sells fiberglass tubing.

Works great for projects like this.
