Default Lunchtime hunt nets another silver first!! & a cool button...

So I went to the park I've been at a dozen times and took Tim (Fred sanford) to the other day where he found the 1857 LC. I went there and as I was walking to where I was going to start I told myself I WILL find a Merc today. Very first target was reading 82-85ish at 10" deep on the AT Pro. The signal was scratchy but loud. I remembered the other day when I found a rosie at 8" and it was very loud. I thought to myself I bet this is a Merc. Dug a good deep hole, pinpointed and dug out some more dirt. Found the silver edge and then recorded it. Picked it up knowing it was a silver dime. I was just hoping it wasn't a Rosie. Though I didnt mind if it was a Barber. Broke off the dirt and sure enough it is my very first Merc in 14 months of hunting. It is a 1944 no mintmark. I know most of you dig these like kids getting candy on Halloween but I am just so happy to get this monkey off my back. The very next target I was sure I had silver again. It was reading 86-88 at 8". Dug it out and saw a silver edge. But it wasnt reeded and the size of a nickel. Turned it over and it was this very cool indian button. Thought it might be silver anyway, but there are no markings and it is too light weight. So another very successful lunch hunt and I am finally getting silver on a semi regular basis. Now I just need to find more than one in an outing. As always thanks for looking and HH!!

Here is the video. Sorry It is a little crappy...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNkZr28jFgE

Sweet merc, congrats on getting that milestone. Took me over a year to find mine. Sweet buff button.

Rob, that is a good thought and I thought about that too. But I just weighed a buffalo nickel I have and it is 4.7 grams. This weighs in at 2.0 grams. Like I said it is real lightweight...

Default Doing Great!!

Man you are tearing it up lately. Congrats on the nice 1st merc. I really dig the button! Hit every inch of that place, there's got to be more. That spot is producing some nice stuff. Can't wait to see what you dig next there.

Well alright! Congrats on your first Merc. It's one of my favorite coins ever made. Yours looks in pretty good shape too. That AT Pro is working for you. You might have to start thinking about setting up grids to hunt that park. Plenty of potential since a large cent was found there.

I have been gridding it Dave. I originally hunted horizontally and now I am going vertically. I must have passed it the first time and got it the second time. Thanks all for the comments. I was truly excited to see it...
