Default The Bounty Hunter hits Silver!!!

With the rifle portion of deer season starting next week, I decided to stay out of the field where I found the harness buckle shield. I took my Pioneer 202 and went instead to some old barns that I have hunted around before, without much luck, except insane amounts of nails and rusted cans. Well, I had dug 5-6 rusted cans that rang up as high tone signals and the top off of a Model T spark coil. I wanted to dig just one decent signal. I got another quarter signal at 4" and figured it was another can top or bottom. I cut my plug and flipped it back and saw the silver edge in the dirt (and did the happy dance). It may be beat up, bent and dateless, but it is my first silver quarter and I am very happy with it!

Thanks for looking!
Doug

Congrats on that fine looking SLQ! She's a beauty! Just goes to show, its not what you swing as much as WHERE.

Looks like a great find. Looks like it was welded at one point.

I was trying to figure what caused that mark. I have several shot coins and this doesn't look anything like one of them. My wife was thinking since silver is a good conductor it might have been clamped tight to a coil or battery or something as a "shim" of sorts. I thought it looked like it have been hot at one point.

Nice 1st silver. Standing liberties are harder to find. I agree with the guy above me, its got character. Do you have the silver bug now? Might be more there, keep digging . Congrats.

Certainly not in the best condition, but is is silver. On top of that you can recognize it. I'd say that was a good find for sure. Congratulations.

Awesome Doug, that's how you make the BH perform!

I hear ya on the hunting thing. I was field hunting last week near State game land & after hearing plenty of shooting I decided it was a good idea to wear blaze orange. Traditional rifle deer hunting is later this month, but archery and youth hunting was in. Still field hunting, but sticking close to safety zones.

Very nice!!!! I dug 2 silver quarters, and 3 silver dimes with a BH 202. Congrats on that amazing coin...I have to ask you this though - would you rather have found a headstamp (100+ years old but common)?

Time to update your signature Doug.

Okay - I gotta admit it. This was a really exciting find! Between a SLQ and a common headstamp, the SLQ wins. I will also have to admit that it was one great feeling seeing that silver reeded edge sticking out of dirt when I turned over the plug!
