Anyone know what this symbol means? Thanks,

Probably makers mark, THGE means its electroplated.

edit: It means Uncas mfg co.

Thanks. I knew it was plated, just thought the symbol may be a clue to what the base metal is.

Thanks for the link. Must be copper under the gold or it would be marked 925 if it was silver. Oh well.

sounds like a Jewelers Mark (also called a silver mark or makers mark). They are unique to each Jeweler. Doing a little research it sounds like Uncas Manufacturing Company. They are a larger company that uses a U with an arrow through it for their mark.
