Default I Have No Clue!

I have no idea what this could be. Any suggestions? It has numbers on it in the first picture but they are hard to make out. What could I use to clean this with?

Looks to me like a rock guard or tooth from some sort of pick-up, from farm equipment.

I think it is a latch similar to old style window latch or icebox door latch. Electrolysis is the best way to clean it.

Looks like the pin pivots off the bigger piece? Maybe a measuring device....

My gut is telling me that is a really old tent stake or anchoring device. eyelets for loops, the square shank leads me to believe it is not a retaining pin. nails and stakes long ago were always square shanks. they were much easier to make.

google image this... "SOTW Roman Tent Stakes" i know there is a bit of a time gap but there are some similarities.... i may be wrong, its just a guess. very nice find!
