You could probably get an Ace350 for that price!

I bought a really nice one for $20 at a garage sale, but I wouldn't hold my breath at finding another one at that price.

It's a great first detector. The only issues you may have are,it's more difficult to pin point than others in it's price range. But once you learn how it's a snap. Just watch a YouTube video, mine.

there's no question that the 250 will find you some good stuff! it's like a blood hound when it comes to sniffing out coins.

It is indeed a REALLY REALLY good entry machine! And one that will remain active in my stable even after I get a second or third detector. I love mine and it has performed incredibly for me.

I'm still waiting for my 150 with upgrade coil so I know nothing, but what I've read it is one of the better ones in that price range, also don't worry about the ace 350 because many people go back to using the 250.

I'm one who went back to a 250 from a 350.

It is WELL THOUGHT OUT and extremely versatile. It even has tonal quirks that let you know if the target is small, large, or close to trash, notwitstanding the regular ID tones. I've even gotten to the point I can easily pinpoint in motion. Now I hardly look at the ID anymore. I'm a tot-lotter,parks and schools hunter and it's kept me from getting any other ID machine. It's outstanding, in my opinion, for the price.

I've had my ACE 250 for a year and got it based on advice from this group. It was sound advice. The closest other detector I've used is my friend's Fisher F2. Its seems to be just as good but I like the fact the ACE 250 uses a quartet of AA batteries and not 9V cells which I consider largely outdated. I wouldn't consider the ACE 150 because it lacks the pinpointing feature which will save you a lot of digging. I can pinpoint so well with the ACE 250 now that I don't even use my handheld pinpointing wand anymore.

Why?

The 350 looks the same as the 250, but has a better searchcoil. If that searchcoil is any better???

The 250 is a heck of machine. Mine paid for itself and a MXT. I loaned my 250 to a friend and he wont give it back
