Default My Find Today!

I found this Railroad conductor button which after I did some research on it I discovered it is dated from around 1850-1865. We have 2 home sites on our land dating back to the 1800's which is where I have been detecting. I just started metal detecting last Saturday and I am already hooked. Name: my button find.jpg

I looked it up on the internet and according to my findings there it is really that old. I did clean it up a little because when I found it you could not see anything on it as far as the lettering.

That's a really nice find and i great shape too for it's age. I'll bet there is a lot more there and you've only scratched the surface. Keep at it and good luck.

Thank you I am really loving this new hobby. I have found several items mostly old farm implement stuff and old bottles while digging for the metal that the detector is indicating.

That's a great button. Is it a Waterbury button? Never saw one like that before. Congrats on a great find right from the start!

I have not experienced a single button of the slightest interest in almost a year in the hobby although the common zipper and jean snaps are littering the nation and continue to tease even the most experienced scanner operator.

Cool button find and welcome to the forum, kylawrence! I wonder if you can figure out what Railroad or Trolley it belonged to? Were there any local to your area?
