Default Bed liner spray on coil

Well i took my coil cover off the SEF coil a week or so ago and wanted to see how it handles in the wet and dry sand. Much better not having to clean under the cover. But.... for those of you who dont think covers are needed on the beach, id say you are wrong. That sand acted just like sand paper on the edges of the coil. Sooo i decided to use some bed liner spray. Got me a can of bed liner armor which has a texture to it once dry. Taped every thing off and did the spraying. I have to say.... that is messy stuff and i didnt think it put down much of a coat. Ive waited and sprayed it 2 more times. Ill take it out and see how it fairs. I tried it one day on the back of my scoop... in hopes i could get a better foot grip. The answer to that is.... NO it dont stay on aluminum.

if you want a good foot grip, get a roll (or a sheet) of cloth-backed emery paper and some contact cement and that [I]should/I] work for you. there's a similar product that i've seen for putting on metal steps/ladders for grip and it holds up quite well in wet environments.
as for the bedliner spray on the coil, it works A-1.

I think 3 coats is good..Make sure to let the bed liner cure for the required amount of time indicated on the can before detecting, otherwise it might flake off or wear down quickly..

Since im not using it to sand hunt much right now it should be cured by time i get around to using it. Hope its tuff because i put the coil right on the sand. I thought about it with the Xcal as well, but not having the knowledge to swap out a bad coil ill keep the cover on. I just dont think the Xcal is as durable as the ones made for land hunting.

Dew, about every 3 weeks it will need a touch up in spots... its not perfect but you don't have to remove the cover cover all the time either... I am a sand scrubber as well and it works fine with my DF...

Just did the same thing on my PI coil & 5" coil. Three coats , Going to the ocean in the morning with the PI. I'll let you know how it held up. I do think it will work very, very well.

I like marine epoxy then bedliner, so when the bedliner starts rubbing through, you still have epoxy over the coil, sprray more bedliner before the epoxy wears through.

I wonder if a company who specializes in bedliners and protective coatings (LineX) would spray my coils if I brought them in to one of their dealerships? Looks like they have cutting edge technology for protective coatings. Hmmm...
