Default Minelab Price Increase on Sept. 26???

Could a dealer please verify if what I read on another forum is correct. A dealer posted new prices for some Minelab machines. Most increased while the X-Terra 505 decreased $50 and the Eureka Gold decreased $100.

"Just wanted you all to be aware of the Minelab pricing adjustment that will take effect on Sept. 26th. The following metal detectors will change in price.

Minelab GPX5000 from $5,595.00 to $5,795.00 ($200 increase)
Minelab E-Trac from $1,498.95 to $1,549.00 ($50 increase)
Minelab Excalibur II 1000 from $1,198.95 to $1,349.00 ($150 increase)
Minelab Sovereign GT from $798.95 to $1,049.00 ($250.00 increase)
Minelab Eureka Gold from $998.95 to $899.00 ($100 decrease) Smiley
Minelab X-Terra 705 from $698.95 to $729.00 ($30 increase)
Minelab X-Terra 705 Gold (same as above)
Minelab X-Terra 505 from $598.95 to $549.00 ($50 decrease)"

It's not really so much of a price increase as it is a reflection of our declining dollar. As our currency gets weaker, it takes more and more to buy the same things.

Default Darn

Minelab GPX5000 from $5,595.00 to $5,795.00 ($200 increase)

Ahhh geez, I was going to buy one of these - but that $200 just pushed this over the edge for me.

In all seriousness, I am going to be buying an ETrac in the next few months, I can think of lots of things to spend $50 on - glad they are at least announcing this is happening.

Inflation, declining dollar, shipping charges due to oil prices......
A lot of things affect pricing.
Look at what things cost in the past, I cry when I see you could buy a fully loaded muscle car in the late 60's for under $5000, now a Malibu costs $20,000...everything goes up eventually.

Tesoro went up a few months ago, others probably will too.

No it isn't. If it was then none of the models would have lower prices. They are simply rationalizing their intermodel pricing and also aligning it against what price point they want against their competition.

They raised them last year by about the same... there are plenty of other companies that make a quality machine for less... if people stop buying them maybe they will back off

Or, they just could be greedy and want to make a lot of money!

It is the devaluation of the dollar. It reminds me of one of my hobbies many years ago for about a decade. Collecting and shooting high end, very high end, adult precision air rifles. The dollar was in the crapper and the prices were through the roof. My buddies all over the world could buy the same guns for 1/2 to 2/3 the price we paid here in the USA. It actually caused me to leave that hobby. That won't happen here!!!!!!!

Maybe they need the extra money to hire more techs to handle the heavy repair loads...

I'm sure they do...Might be in the annual reports, but I sure don't want to look through all 150 pages of them.......It's just like fuel prices and everything else...prices go up while wages stay stagnate...

Default minelab increases

As a owner of three Minelab Excaliburs,2 whites,2 Fishers,my opinion on raising the prices is,# 1 i see they raised their prices on there best sellers, probally to cover less popular selling models loss, of sales, minelab has had major infrastructure changes, moving location's for cheeper labor ect.,sometimes it pay's off and sometimes it doesn't,due to the world economy slump, falling stock,401ks,job losses, uncertanty in jobs weather, some companies raise there prices to cover there expenses reguardless of the situation, sometimes companies have to experience a back lash from customer's to realize they did wrong, area's minelab need's improvement are warrenties, they fall short of other manufacturer's,turn around time on repairs, cost to the customer for repairs,? of new part's used now in production that are breaking, with say on a excalibur 2 with only a 1 yr warrenty, opposed to other manufacturers with a 2 yr. warrenty on waterproof machines,Minelab repaires needed are out of the warrenty period, and the customer takes the expensive hit, for repair,a major problem with the excaliburs are cable breakage at the point of cable to coil, phones to unit,UNTILL Minelab updates their warrenties, and backs there product's, the way they should,i will buy from other manufacturers, shop for bargains, minelabs loss, for what is offered, this was no time for a rate increase, only my opinion,i do like Minelab products, however, area's need improvement, that have been neglected.

I agree profit runs the market ... supply and demand. Right now everyone wants an Xcal or Sov looking for GOLD. Then you have the Etrac..... which i didnt jump on still not convinced its and improvement over my SE. Stick it to the rich Americans. Id love to see an American company come out with a disc PI and give it to us right.
