Exclamation stories

I herd just about everything, but that one top's the charts,i would have said no,i looking for the jewlery i just saw you drop, and smile, just to watch them look around, you can reply with just about everything,i usually have the other party cracking up,it's what you want to make of it,if anything at all,be safe, since if anyone stalk's you,i have had plenty ask how much my detectors worth, swinging the Excalibur,i said this is a cheep one and smile, two things, don't expose the price of your equiptment, and never expose any finds of value, and allways watch your back,be aware of your surrounding's at all times,Earl

Maybe her husband or father was a veteran. The first modern metal detectors were used by the military to detect land mines. Alexander Graham Bell invented the very first metal detector and used it to try and locate the bullet lodged in the chest of assinated President James Garfield .

Yea most of the time people just approach and ask if I am finding anything good. The good response is "yes...I have made the park this much safer for our children and hold out a handful of dangerous looking can slaw". Then they seem happier I am there lol.

I spent 30 minutes talking to a parks maintenance guy learning some history about the local parks. He was so excited that he drove his golf cart to the office and got a little more history for me from his boss. It was one of the better 30 minutes I have spent in a park lately.

I have never found any 1715 loot, but I think this is going to be my year. Those beaches are 2 hours away from me and until I move up there,
I can only afford to hunt them once in a while. Besides, the conditions for the treasure coast beaches have sucked for a long time anyway. It's not going to get good until the cold fronts and the north wind move in, unless they get hit by a hurricane.

It's a shame that it has to be that way.

I was hunting at a public beach in Dubai (that's where i live), close to the iconic Burj Al Arab, a few days back.. I had almost 10 people come to me in 2 hours, asking questions from:
1) 'I didn't know Dubai had dangerous stuff buried'
2) 'Can you let me rent your detector?'
3) 'How deep does this detector go? Oh just 1-2 feet?, I own one in my country which goes as deep as 20 feet'... (I think he was mixing a Caterpillar driller with the detector)
4) The funniest one was when two Bangladeshi boys requested me if they could dig for me.. I don't own a sand scoop yet and was using a shovel, so i said by al means... Those boys took turns to dig everytime i got a signal.. So unlike last time when i got extremely tired of digging after 3 hours, this time i detected for good 6 hours with a couple of small breaks.... Ofcourse i let them have a few of the coins which were still in useable condition.

In Japan I have been asked if I'm looking for:

1) water (while at the beach)
2) earthquakes (!)
3) special rocks

There will be another one that won't being wearing any jewelry to the beach, then she tells her friends and before long, not much jewelry being worn to the beach. It has happened in my area.

The proper response would have been to answer "yes" while taking one more step, then freeze and yell "Oh sh*t! Don't move!"

I sure wish we had more like your girlfriend in SW FL. I have watched people on the beaches for 20 years and what they wear.....I truly wish it was all in my head.

Default That's a good one , Max.

I can see being able to convince someone of that. The scoop is for capturing "core samples".
