Default Knee pads

Ok, after 15yrs of being an Infantryman, when I go out metal detecting, it just about kills me to kneel down on the ground. I have some good Sears Craftsman kneepads that cost me like 45.00..but I hate the kneepads that have the straps that wrap around your leg.

Do you guys have any idea on what I could do or buy? Surely there is something out there that would be better. I was thinking maybe even the old kneepads I used back when I played soccer back in the late 70's early 80's...Any reccomendations or should I just quit being a sissy and suck it up and drive on

I just get the hard shelled ones at local big box store. Can not even tell you what brand they are but the hard shell is a life saver for me.

Yea, I have about 4 differnt sets of hard and gel kneepads...the straps bother the heck out of me. I have found a solution. I am going to buy 2 pair of carhart carpenter pants...my wife is going to sew pockets onto the knees and I am going to put foam pads in there....presto..problem solved and there will be no straps to bother me

I have both hard shell and soft knee pads. I have found that on the side of a hill, the hard shell want to slide down the hill. The ones I like best have a fold (hinge) right below the top strap. This fits above the knee and doesn't slip down like a lot of the others. I think that are made for skate boarders or something like that. I find them at thrift stores for three or four dollars. I wouldn't hunt without knee pads.

For some reason, I just cant wear the kneepads that have the straps that wrap around my leg...I have about 250.00 worth of almost new kneepads and I cant wear them.

You could use catcher guards baseball players use. Goofy looking but since you are swinging a detector to many people you look goofy already.
