Summer is here and it's treasure hunting time in flavor country!
The Creek family has been snorkeling the area rivers and have come back to the barn with a $10.99 kids raft full of treasure!!! As some of you may remember I uncovered the strongbox of the SS Hayduke this winter in my local river. This fictional 234 foot tramper sailed the oceans during the greater part of the last century before coming to rest in 6 feet of water right behind the bar and the putt putt golf course. How this ship managed the trip up hundreds of miles of inland rivers is anybody's guess, but I'm sure a fine time was had by all. Anyhoo. We've been meticiously researching and exploring the wreck site and have discovered a trove of old glassware, car tires, misc junk and one big washing machine. The strech of river that we are swimming passes close to town and from the evidence we have gathered that the local population gathered to drink beer and watch the spectatcle of the Hayduke's dilemma. A second, less popular senario is that people liked to drink down by the river for no apparent reason. This second, less plausable explanation is not taken seriously by leading researchers. Bottles found include a mix of Heidlburger, Rainier, Schlitz, Olympia and some Lucky Lager as well. Modern examples include Budweiser, Michelob, and Mikes hard cider. The rare Md 20/20 bottle suggests that hobos did indeed still camp down by the river back in the day. So many beer bottles were found that none were collected as of the time of this writing. Several older bottles were also found. These were spirited away to our top secret backyard research facility for further cleaning and examination. Tenative dating suggests they are from the early years of the last century. |

Thanks for the kids comments. It's been a lot of fun snorkeling through this section of river. This strech is right next to the road and I'm sure the locals have been throwing the bottles in for a long time.
