Default What case or carrying bag do you use?

At some of the local parks it can be a bit of a hike to get to the beach. Since Im new to this I dont like the attention my new brings so I was wondering if anyone has a carrying bag they like to lug their MD in?

Mine came with a nylon bag as a free gift but it doesnt seem durable at all and feels cheap. Hoping for something a little more substantial.

i have a detector bag but the only time i use it is during off season to store my detector in the closet or basement. i just put my detector over my shoulder on long walks. i'd think having the detector in the bag people would then think i had a gun case or something, plus that bag would be one more thing i'd have'ta carry around on the hunt

Try a backpack. I haven't done it but I know my Ace 250 can come apart pretty quickly and would fit in a pack. The lower rod and coil might stick out though, or I would be able to disconnect it from the rod and it would likely all fit in then. You can throw everything in there too (PP, digger, finds pouch, gloves, batteries, water, snack, etc). When you reach your destination just empty the pack out and leave it somewhere safe til you're ready to leave.

This is what comes from too much time on your hands. I mounted four rubber-coated broom holders on top of an ammo case I got from the Gander Mountain store. All MD accessories fit inside with the detector and coils riding on top.

The ammo case is a great idea.
I used to just strap everything around my waist and carry the detector. With the addition of my sons gear, I have moved it all to a backpack. We'll just carry the detectors. Everything is stored, hanging on the wall in my utility room @ home.

I have a nice one, but I don't even use it. I would have to break my detector down since the bag is about 4 inches too short to carry the detector in. I can't be bothered. I should just sell the bag...lol

Very cool !!!

I have never seen the need for a case or bag. The detector stands up neatly in a corner , or fits really good on a shelf in a closet. If you are worried about dust or moisture while its being stored , put plastic bag over the control box. I know some people like to "dress up" stuff and are always looking for neat things or additions to their stuff , but unless traveling with the detector I dont see a purpose except for spending more money.

Back before I drove I would always break my detectors down and carry them in a hiking backpack. I never had any problems and most will fit in a larger size hiking bag. It can be annoying breaking them down but after awhile you get use to it. I would carry mine on my back for miles with no issues and to everyone else it just looked like I had a school bag on.

When I go to the beach I use a Snow Board Carry Bag. It has a carry strap and back pack straps built right in it . It hold the detector and all of the other gear I need to carry like the umbrella, scoop, snacks, couple a waters and towel etc.

Dont really use the bag much. Sometimes I use it when I carry it in the trunk of my car. When walking into a park or the woods I cary my detector in hand with my sampson shovel. I usually wear a camel back with small storage for food and tobacco. Also a finds/trash pouch on my waist. The minelab bag that came with the e trac is medium to heavy canvas. You can prob get one on e-bay.

Default Harbor Freight.....

If you happen to have a super Harbor freight store near you, then I sudjest you check 'em out. They now have a variety of Hard cases with hard foams, and soft foams too meet your needs. Why buy one from the factory when you can customize your own. They even sell waterproof case's.
This is not a shout out,nor is it a promotional commerical. I just love it there!!
Im going back tomorrow, then I'll post some pics for ya'll. Later,,Tor

I've got one on the way just to protect the detector while it's in the trunk of the car. Yeah there is some netting that keeps it from rolling around but I'm OCD about taking care of electronics and such!
