Im looking hard for a water detector $1000 or UNDER. Looks like the best detectors... the CZ and Xcal is just out of reach. Not looking for a used one just because im not sure who to trust. If a dealer has one he will stand behind let me know. Looks like im going with a DF as a next choice. I know some will say its not a NEXT choice if the conditions will support it. I know Craig uses the DF and a Sov. Ive got an SE that seems to do a bang up job on the wet and dry sand. So im ready to jump in up to my neck so to speak. What do you guys feel about my choice?

That choice is up to you... what do you feel comfortable spending and using... Indian Nation had a couple barely used Excalibur1000's for $750... If I had the money I would have gone for one of them... If your beaches are iron infested like New Jersey then I will steer you away from a PI... if they are like CT here then a PI is perfect for the water and some wet sand... a few beaches here are so full of iron I would not use my PI I'm not after rust... Why not look into the Detector Pro Headhunter its verty similar to the DF except for the open coil but its plenty deep and I think cheaper than the DF if money is a issue... its a well built machine and Gary Storm stands behind them.. __________________ |

Money is only an issue if its OVER $1000. Why do you say the best of both worlds Joe? I didnt see those Xcals on Indian Nations web site ill have to call. Would you recommend buying a used machine.... even from a dealer?

Sure if they are willing to honor some sort of warranty... I bought my GT with 30 hours on it from someone on Findmall for $475 it sure has paid me back with gold... __________________ |

If you think you want the Excal just wait a little longer and save the xtra cash for it. Don't settle for something else, your almost there. If you want a PI then you already have the cash for the dual field and a new scoop.HH!

and as joe said........EVERYTHING.
i do not know where your location is, but i would look around at what most of the other water hunters use and that should help u make the decision. __________________ |

Max both the Xcal and cZs seem to be equally used here in Fl. Some use the DF but feel its a better fit for northern beaches since the soil here has little mineralization. I dont think id go wrong with any or them. Like was mentioned..... maybe i can pick up a used PI once i dig a little gold to pay for this equipment. Ive yet to sell a machine that hasnt paid for its self. Thats how i know i like or dislike the unit.

Bit the bullet..... have a new Xcal being shipped. Followed the crowd instead of being an individual lol. Hope it pays off.... but here in Fl seems like the best way to go. Thanks for every ones input.

Supposed to use a machine that is deeper than what everyone else uses..

Thou that is true about using a machine deeper than others. There are trade offs for both depending on where you are hunting. Lots of deep trash may not be worth the effort especially in soil without mineralization. Im aware VLF machines are at their liimit and the PI are just beginning to scratch the surface of their capabilities. So im hoping to find enough to pay for this detector and sock some back for anything new in the PI future.... say with tone or disc capability.

Never ask for permission just ask for forgiveness. Good detector choice and good luck with it.If you make a few good finds then you can buy a Dual Field and you will have the wet sand and water covered.Good Luck!
