Default Used White's IDX Pro advice/info

I came across a CL ad for a White's IDX Pro and I was wondering how this machine performs. I am not exactly in the market for a second machine, but hey ya never know, if I can get it for a reasonable price it might be fun.

It's a deep hitter and runs quiet. If you get a quarter ID, it's almost for sure a quarter. Its a nice light well balanced detector, but it was just a tad too heavy for my bad elbow at the time. My elbow has gotten better since I traded mine for a Vaquero.

Thanks for the info. How is it's recovery rate? How much would you expect to pay for this machine?

Very nice recovery speed. There is a mod that was done by Mr. Bill to adjust the ground balance and threshold. These detectors kick the snot out of the Prizm detectors except maybe the 6T. And the pinpointing was always dead on.

The guy is asking $250 for a machine used for 1 year. I think that is a bit much. Do you think a $100 offer is an insult?

Speaking of Mr. Bill...

I know he's retired, but still moderating over on Findmall.
I wonder if he still does those mods, or if anyone else does them in case I ever pick up one of these?

Big time insult for sure! It was retail for $550 and selling for $450 back in the days. RWJR13 is right on with the price. Everything that was mention above is true! If is one yrs old, Should be in mint condition, If not, Well you know.

Yes $100 is VERY low, 200 would be an awesome deal, 250 is very fair. I use a Classic ID which was a step below the IDX when they first came out in the mid 90's and it was an awesome machine and just as good as any machine in that price range today even better than the models that replaced them in the Whites lineup. Also Beep is right the ID is very accurate on them so if it says quarter 99% of the time it's a quarter.

Last I heard Mr. Bill still does mods. They are $80 plus $20 shipping the last time I checked. My Classic ID was a nickel monster, probably the best I've had yet. If it said nickel, it was a nickel, if it said tab, usually it was a tab. I dug all anyway just in case I ran my coil over a ring. If you can get it for 2 bills jump on it, v. nice machine. If you get it for $100, sell it to me for $150....
